I am a dad of a 3 year old little girl and have a lovely wife. We live many miles away from our parents and find it difficult when you don't have the advice/experience you sometimes need from them. This article answered a lot of questions, and is helping me to realise that being a good dad is an on going process; not just the flick of a switch. I'm guilty of doing the same thing myself sometimes. I try to always be aware of what makes it out of my head to action, though, and try to keep from ever acting out of frustration or anger, even counting speaking as acting. That doesn't mean I'm always successful, however... I just always keep trying. By the way... don't give up when you screw up. Everyone does, especially when trying to make real changes in their own behavior that has been established for a long time. Just sit down, apologize, and forgive yourself. It's an ongoing process, not a switch to flip. It makes me happy to hear that you are trying and that you realize how important it can be in the lives of your children.
